He see's you when you're sleeping He know's when you're awake...

He see's you when you're sleeping He know's when you're

awake...

Ummm does that song concern anyone?? Does that reality scare anyone? Maybe I'm just weird....
I'm currently sitting in my home listening to Harry Connick Jr Christmas CD, enjoying a warm fire in the fireplace, and a hot cup of mint tea with milk. Yep, I'm officially old, don't judge. So the nice thing about doing a Christmas tour is that we had to do all our shopping online so I missed out on all those fun over crowded mall shopping experiences. The downside of doing a Christmas tour is that we only have one week at home to bake and watch all our favorite Christmas movies. So needless to say I've turned into a hermit who has baked wayyyy too many cookies, listened to Nat King Cole and Amy Grant a million times and watched all the Christmas movies that I've watched every year and still cry every time. (Not sure if that's what hermits do but oh well, that's what this hermit does) Yes, the scene in Muppets Christmas Carol where Belle is singing "The Love is Gone" or the end of "It's A Wonderful Life" gets me every year. My fav is when us girls watch White Christmas cause we can say every line, and we do...out loud...even before the line is said. I'm sure to everyone else in the room that is a bit annoying. If you haven't seen those movies you have a few days left and I highly recommend them.
So, we wrapped up the tour last week on the west coast and it's a tour I'll really miss. I so loved doing an acoustic set and felt that in a more relaxed setting like that it was very natural for us girls to just banter and be a bit sarcastic. I loved feeling like we were all sitting around our living room just having a conversation. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and made those nights so memorable for us and for all of you who brought us gifts. You all must have gotten the memo that we like chocolate! Yes the way to our heart is through chocolate so again thank you. Also, just wanted to give a shout out to those who were at our last 3 shows. I was really sick and had a fever for a few days so I know I said some things that made me look like an airhead but no matter what my sisters may tell you- I'm not. Like the part of the set where I announced "Best 1 out of 2 wins!" yeah....I'm not sure why but at the time it really made sense. Or the other part where I completely forgot what song was next and Lauren had to tell me which one to play, yeah thanks for going with it.
I've been thinking a lot about why this season bring so many of us joy and I've been realizing that this is the only time that all of us are thinking outside of ourselves. It truly is a season of giving. I mean, you can't check out of any store without being asked if you want to donate to a cause and for the first time we are all required to see the people around us. At the same time we are all singing the same songs about the power of Jesus Christ and how we are walking no longer in the darkness. How chains are broken and we are free! Have you really stopped to listen to the words?? They are so powerful. For an entire month we are singing truth and for a moment life seems brighter, more hopeful. Suddenly we begin to look ahead and believe that another year will be brighter. I wonder if we always spoke truth, always looked at the needs of others and realized we could help (even if it's just a dollar!), always took time to see family and reconnect, if we would feel this way more often. God has truly blessed each one of us and I love this time to reflect on His goodness.
We can be apart of bringing His goodness to others
"Truly He taught us to love one another, His law is love and His gospel is peace. Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother and in HIS name ALL oppression shall cease"
This is our inheritance, our gift. Not just for this season but for all year.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!
Alyssa
